Dr. Itamar Rickover holds a voluntary position as CEO of the Association of Civil-Military Studies in Israel. He earned a master’s degree in administration and dispute resolution and negotiation from the Interdisciplinary Faculty at Bar-Ilan University and a PhD in political science from Bar-Ilan University. His dissertation, under the supervision of Prof. Avi Kover, was entitled “The Centrality of the Military Echelon in Israel in the Assessment of National Intelligence and Political-Strategic Planning: Materialistic and Cultural Explanations.” He completed his post-doctoral fellowship (in security studies) under the supervision of Prof. Yagil Levy at the Open University and has published several articles on strategic culture and interrelations of political and military echelons.
His areas of expertise are: national strategy and security, terror and guerilla warfare, interrelations of political and military echelons, Israeli foreign and security policy, gender differences in negotiation styles, and political negotiation styles.
He is currently a lecturer at Kinneret Academic College and in the Programs for Security Forces Department of Bar-Ilan University on civil-military relationships, terror and guerilla warfare, and national strategy and security. During the elections, he was an instructor in the Knesset Central Elections Committee, instructor and accrediting office holders in the election committee. He also volunteers, with great pleasure, as a tutor, helping high school students prepare for Bagrut exams in civics.
