Stuart Cohen was born in England in 1946 and made Aliya in 1972. Prior to his Aliya, he completed his doctoral dissertation at Oxford University (where he also completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees). From 1972 to 2012 he taught at Bar-Ilan University where he served as a full professor in the Political Science Department. Since 2012, he has been head of the School of Politics and Government at Ashkelon Academic College.
Cohen’s academic specializations include: Jewish political tradition, civil-military relations, and approaches in contemporary Jewish religious law to the military and war.
He has published books and articles in Hebrew and English on these subjects and has taught them in Israel and abroad, and was an invited guest lecturer at universities in Britain, the USA, and South Africa.
